Please join us at Fraser’s Kings Park on Wednesday September 25 for Lyceum Perth 2019. Registration will begin at 8:30 am, with the first sessions kicking off at 9 am. From then until mid-afternoon, we’ll host a diverse series of presentations from respected technology partners, geoscience professionals, and Seequent employees (with coffee and lunch networking breaks between sessions).

Then, we’ll invite you to our Solutions Kiosks – where you can learn more about Seequent solutions and provide direct, in-person feedback to our product specialists.

We’ll be rounding off the day with drinks, appetisers, and informal networking.

Seequent CEO Shaun Maloney

Shaun Maloney

Chief Executive Officer at Seequent

Shaun Maloney is the Chief Executive Officer at Seequent.

Under Shaun’s leadership, Seequent has grown to more than 350 staff in 18 locations around the world. A proven transformational leader, Shaun is responsible for managing strategy, risk, return and growing Seequent into a full-service software provider with a global presence.

Shaun has a background in international banking and has provided strategic direction to New Zealand technology businesses. With experience in both small start-ups and large-scale commercial operations, he brings the unique know-how required to concurrently manage both current and future opportunities for successful business growth. In 2014, Shaun was awarded a Prime Minister's Business Scholarship to study at Harvard Business School and London Business School on innovation, emerging markets, strategy for value creation, and global business leadership.

Seequent CTO James Lawson

James Lawton

Chief Technology Officer at Seequent

James recently joined the Seequent team from Toronto-based Dealer-FX Group, the leading customer experience management provider for automotive OEMs and their retailers, where he held the roles of CTO and most recently Chief Product Officer.

Prior to this, he spent 14 years with Siemens Enterprise Communications (now Unify) in a variety of roles including VP Strategic Business Development and VP Strategic Portfolio Integration, following several years at IBM Canada as an IS systems, operational team leader.

He started his career as a Project Geologist and worked on numerous geological exploration projects in Canada and Guyana. Lawton gained a B.Sc. (hons) in Geological Sciences from Ontario’s Queen’s University.

Nick Fogarty

General Manager Mining & Minerals at Seequent

Nick Fogarty is the General Manager of Mining & Minerals at Seequent.

Nick is an innovative and strategically focused professional with 15 years’ experience advising on and implementing international sales and marketing initiatives. He has extensive experience in leading global teams and operating in cross-cultural environments. Enthusiastic and creative, Nick has a passion to determine company direction and implement growth through business and technology led innovation.

Jillian Terry

BHP

Jill completed a BSc Honours in Geology at the University of Melbourne in 1984 and post-graduate Mineral Economics (Macquarie University) in 1987.

She commenced employment as a mine geologist with Newmont Holdings at Telfer Gold Mine in 1985 and has worked in various senior, chief and manager roles in mine, project, resource and exploration geology at Boddington Gold Mine, OK Tedi Mine (PNG) and Sepon Mine (Laos) before commencing a global BHP Billiton resource evaluation role in 2006.

Since joining BHP, Jill has worked across all assets and commodities, is accountable for excellence in Geoscience, capability planning and development incorporating disruptive technologies and assurance and public reporting of Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves. She has held the role of Vice President Geoscience from 2014 until August 2019 and has recently commenced a role as Vice President Technical Capability to deliver capability improvement for Geoscientists and Resource Engineers to meet industry requirements both now and into the near term to meet the needs of mining/ extractive automation underpinned by technology and innovation.

She has been a member of the JORC Executive committee since 2011.

Jill is a strong advocate for diversity in teams and retention of mothers in the workforce. She has raised 4 children whilst developing her career; enjoys travel and exercise and competes in 10km and half marathon events.

Steve Law

Senior Geologist at Seequent

Steve is a Senior Project Geologist with the Seequent team in Perth. He works with product users in the Asia Pacific region to provide sales and technical support, training and project assistance. He has worked with Leapfrog software since 2010 and is a technical specialist for Leapfrog Edge.

Steve has +10 years’ experience in production roles at open pit and underground copper and gold mines in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. From 2009 he worked as a senior resource geologist for Newmont and Goldfields. Steve has completed an MSc in Exploration Geoscience and a Graduate Certificate in Geostatistics, and is a qualified (AusIMM) Competent Person for gold and copper.

Zoe Reid Lindroos

Zoe Reid Lindroos

Senior Geologist at Seequent

Zoe is a Senior geologist with the Seequent team in Perth, she works with product users in the Asia Pacific region and provides technical support, training, project assistance, sales, and account planning. After completing a Master’s degree at Otago University in New Zealand, Zoe worked in complex narrow vein gold mines such as King of the Hill, Plutonic, and Jundee before joining Seequent. Zoe has continued her interest in modelling underground narrow vein deposits by helping to develop workflows and blogs using Seequent’s Leapfrog Geo.

Lee Steven

Technical Analyst at Seequent

Lee has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Auckland with a specialisation in Geophysics. Previous to his time at Geosoft, Lee was a Survey Operator working on airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys. He is now a part of the Geosoft team, working as a Technical Analyst providing technical support and training to customers on our various desktop applications.

Kathryn Gall

Senior Technical Lead at Seequent

Kathryn is the Senior Technical Lead at Seequent. At Seequent, Kathryn is responsible for overseeing the technical delivery of the team, account management and providing geological mentoring in Seequent products. She completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Sydney and a Graduate Certificate in Geostatistics at Edith Cowan University. Kathryn has worked in the mining industry in WA for ten years, where her passion for modelling and innovation lead her to join Seequent 2 years ago. During her time in the mining industry, she has worked across all field including exploration, mining and resource geology for iron ore and lithium companies.

Barry Bourne

Terra Resources

Barry is a Principal and Founder of Terra Resources Geophysical and Geological consultants. Barry has advanced global knowledge of targeting greenstone, epithermal and porphyry style mineralization which includes three years in the USA exploring for Carlin style gold mineralisation. He also has six years in-country experience in Papua New Guinea, Africa and South America.

Up until 2013 he was Chief Geophysicist for Barrick Gold and is now a mineral exploration consultant to private and public international exploration groups. Barry graduated in geology and geophysics from the University of Western Australia. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists and is currently on the technical advisory committee for UWA Centre for Exploration Targeting. He was shortlisted for the Australian innovation Awards in 2012 and was Advance Global Australian of the Year-Mining and Resources in 2013.

Neville Panizza

First Quantum Minerals

Neville has worked at First Quantum Minerals for the past 10 years as the Data Systems Manager for the exploration department and is responsible for the exploration data systems roadmap globally.

Neville has a passion for innovation and has gained an appreciation on how challenging thinking can lead to positive outcomes.

Neville believes that working with software groups on a collaboration basis is the key to success and as an industry this collaboration is much more involved than just purchasing software.

Martin Pujol

Martin Pujol

Rockwater

Martin Pujol has extensive experience in hydrogeology over his 10-year+ career in the groundwater and geothermal industry. He spent most of his career working for Rockwater in Perth (the leading low-enthalpy geothermal and deep groundwater supply consultant in Australia) but he also worked as project manager for CFG Services, a global geothermal energy consultancy in Paris with large-scale projects in France and overseas.

In Australia, he has developed a thorough understanding of deep groundwater supply, managed aquifer recharge and geothermal energy projects targeting sedimentary aquifers. As a Senior Hydrogeologist at Rockwater, he has notably been involved in managing the provision of hydrogeological services to the Water Corporation on a 16 well drilling campaign for future-proofing the Perth water supply, the construction of a new injection borefield and its associated treatment plan for injecting heat-depleted water back into its source aquifer at the largest geothermal spa project in Victoria as well as numerous shallow geothermal and deep water well projects in most states of Australia.

For the past two years he has been involved with a 30 year sustainability study into the long-term water supply for Busselton Water with a focus on refining the geological understanding of the target Jurassic aquifers and future proofing the water supply against declining rainfall, rising sea water level and potential for inland salt water movement and up-coning. Mr Pujol graduated from The National School of Geology of Nancy in France with a Master of Science in 2008 and is on the board of the Australian Geothermal Association and a member of the International Association of Hydrogeologists.

Tsedendamba Oyunbuyan

Erdenet Mining Corporation

Tsedendamba is a resource geology at Erdenet Mining Corporation. Tsedendamba graduated National University of Mongolia for Bachelor of Science and member of MPIGM (Mongolian Professional Institute of Geosciences and Mining).

He has 12 years’ experience for exploration and resource geologist at copper, molybdenum, gold and coal. Tsedendamba started his career as a geologist at Peabody polo resource LLC in 2010. Later, he was the Senior Geologist at "Mongol Uranium Resource" LLC from 2012 to 2015. Tsedendamba was responsible for the resource estimation and managing the exploration program.

After 3 years working in uranium project, Tsedendamba commenced working for Erdenet Mining Corporation as resource geologist for copper and molybdenum. Currently, he is responsible for exploration planning and resource estimation.

David is the Head of Product for MX Deposit where he oversees the product lifecycle from idea generation through to design, development, implementation, and ongoing support. David is an experienced product leader with a track record of building commercial software products for the mining and exploration industries, with a heavy focus on solving data management challenges.

Warren is a structural geologist and geometallurgist who specialises in magmatic-hydrothermal base and precious metal mineral systems. He has experience across exploration and mining geology and R&D, working for Acacia Resources, Anglogold, CSIRO, Hot Chili and Silver Swan Group, before joining CSA Global Mining Industry Consultants as Principal Geologist/Geometallurgist.

Robert G Ayres

PT Argincourt Resources

Robert Ayres has extensive experience in geology, exploration and development over his relatively short 14-year career in the mining industry. Starting his career with the new Newmont Mining Corporation before working extensively across Papua New Guinea contributing to early resource development of the Simberi Gold Mine now operated by St Barbara Limited.

In 2009 he joined OkTedi Mining Limited focusing on near mine exploration in the Star Mountains. After five years working in Papa New Guinea, he returned to an Australia role with Teck Resources before taking up an opportunity as principal consulting geologist at the Mabilo Copper-Gold Project, a significant new Cu-Au Skarn Resource located in the Philippines majority owned by RTG Mining. For the past two years he has been involved with the Martabe Gold Mine with a focus on exploration targeting and deeper understanding of the Martabe system. Mr. Ayres graduated from The University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in 2005 and is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists and the Society of Economic Geologists.

Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ)

Matt Greenwood is a geophysicist and manager of the newly formed Regional Compilations Team within the Geological Survey of Queensland. He is a custodian of several GSQ’s data systems including QDEX Data and is heavily involved in the GSQ’s Geoscience Data Modernisation Project, which aims to transform how the GSQ collects, manage and delivers its vast store of geoscience data and information.

Clint Ward

Anglo American

Clint has been fascinated by mathematical modelling of geology since his first Geostatistics lecture by the Late Dr D Krige in 1997. Qualifying as a geologist in South Africa and then continuing his studies into Geostatistics in Australia his personal life has mirrored his career! Now Principal | Geostatistics at Anglo American he splits his time between South Africa and Australia having emigrating from South Africa and naturalising as Australian but working heavily in Southern Africa. Clint’s current focus is collaboration to quantify geological uncertainty.
