Leapfrog Mining Retirement

First available in 2004, Leapfrog Mining has been a trusty and important precursor to Leapfrog Geo. Seequent stopped provisioning new commercial Leapfrog Mining licences back in 2013. Now, Mining is approaching the end of its life and we need to retire it.

Seequent will provide reduced support for Leapfrog Mining as of December 31st 2020, and total retirement as of 1st June 2021.

Reduced support means telephone-based tech support on how to use the software, but not support on installation or setup. As well, Seequent will not issue or ship new Leapfrog Mining dongles past December 31st, 2020.

If you are a perpetual Leapfrog Mining licence holder
Seequent will provide support through to December 31st, 2020. Or, if you renewed your support & maintenance after January 1st 2020, through to your renewal date in 2021. At renewal we are also happy to arrange a dongle hosted, static Mining license for you to keep and use for as long as the dongle is working. At your 2021 renewal date, your perpetual Mining seat will be replaced by the equivalent Leapfrog Geo seat, provided your Support & Maintenance is current.

If you have a companion Leapfrog Mining licence
Seequent will extend the companion licence that accompanies your dongle through your renewal date in 2021, to provide time for you to transition your projects and models to Leapfrog Geo. Although Seequent’s Leapfrog Mining support will end on December 31st, 2020, you may continue to access Leapfrog Mining through that extended date, so long as your dongle works.

If you are a consultant
Seequent will provided you with support through December 31st, 2020, after which support will not be available. Seequent will not issue new dongle based Leapfrog Mining licences as of December 31st, 2020. We are happy to arrange a soft code Mining license for you to use until the retirement date of June 1st 2021.

For all Leapfrog Mining customers
Seequent will provide project assistance to help you transition your projects and models to Leapfrog Geo.  Please contact your local Seequent support team to arrange assistance. 

Why is Leapfrog Mining being sunset?
The operating system that Leapfrog Mining was developed to work on can no longer be supported.

Will Leapfrog Mining work as usual until December 31st, 2020?
It will work as usual through December 31st, 2020. Thereafter, if your dongle breaks or stops functioning, Leapfrog Mining won’t be accessible.

I have models and projects in Leapfrog Mining. How will I transfer them to Leapfrog Geo?
Contact your regional support to discuss project assistance to help you transition your models and projects into Leapfrog Geo.

What if I have a perpetual Leapfrog Mining licence?
If your support & maintenance date is between January 1, 2020 and June 1, 2020 and your payment is current, Seequent will provide Leapfrog Mining support through your support & maintenance date in 2021.

If your support & maintenance is after June 1, 2020, Seequent will provide Leapfrog Mining support through December 31st, 2020 (and your S&M payment will be pro-rated to that date).

I am using Leapfrog Geo, does this affect me?
No, this is only in relation to Leapfrog Mining. There is no change to Leapfrog Geo licences and support.
