Oasis montaj Basin Modelling

Oasis montaj Basin Modelling provides quantitative gravity and magnetic modelling, including forward modelling using explicitly defined subsurface geometry and physical properties.

It is used when gravity and magnetic data need to be interpreted through model‑based comparison, where calculated responses are evaluated against observed survey data to test and refine geological scenarios.
Geological, seismic, and well information is used to constrain the subsurface model itself, supporting structurally consistent interpretations and reducing reliance on visual correlation alone. While commonly used in basin and energy studies, the modelling approach can be applied across a wide range of geological settings and scales.
Oasis montaj Basin Modelling is one of three available subscriptions, alongside Base and Ultimate. Cloud‑based inversion services are available for projects that require large‑scale or voxel‑based inversion workflows.

Model construction and preparation

  • Forward modelling and constrained modelling for gravity and magnetic data

  • Apply 1D and 2D Fourier‑domain filters used in gravity and magnetic modelling workflows

  • Prepare model inputs using explicitly defined subsurface geometry and physical properties

Applying geological and seismic constraints

  • Integrate geological, seismic, and well information into subsurface models

  • Import seismic data (SEG-Y) for use as structural constraints where required

  • Ensure consistency between gravity, magnetic, and independent geological inputs

Testing alternative geological scenarios

  • Test alternative geological interpretations against observed potential‑field data

  • Use forward modelling to assess how changes in geometry affect gravity and magnetic response

  • Apply basin and regional modelling workflows to large‑scale geological structure
