A new way to find like-minded women and career guidance in your city.

Calgary & Vancouver, March 8, 2023: A new and different walk and talk mentoring program for women is coming to Canada, starting in Calgary and Vancouver. Launching first in Calgary on 19 April 2023, Mentor Walks offers women the chance to connect with senior female leaders and other career women, and get career advice that they might not otherwise have access to.

The event involves a diverse group of senior professional and entrepreneurial women including Mhairi Petrovic (Founder of Out-Smarts Marketing), Libby Senez (CFO of Torq Resources), Joanna Bailey (CFO of Liberty Gold Corp) and Laura Chodola (CEO of Tealish), Mara Grunau (Executive Director of Centre for Suicide Prevention) and Lisa Wall (Chief People Officer at Seequent) accompanying aspiring career women on an hour-long walk in the CBD before work.

At each walk, mentors are matched with up to three mentees based on the question the mentees have pre-submitted. Then, over the hour-long walk, this small group walks together and collectively workshops each mentee’s question.

Mentor Walks is a global program that already operates in cities across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

More than 7000 women have participated as mentees since the program launched in Australia in 2016, with over 500 mentors volunteering their time and wisdom to give back to the next generation of female leaders.

Bobbi Mahlab, Co-founder of Mentor Walks said: “The conversations held on these walks are an important part of helping women take the next step in their career and ultimately developing the next generation of leaders.

“It can be difficult to find like-minded career women in your city. Career women also have issues big and small and often it is hard to find impartial people to go to for advice,” Bobbi said.

“Our mentors provide these aspiring women with advice on challenges they’re facing now, such as getting a promotion, asking for a pay rise, influencing executive teams, and managing up, or when to launch a business or product.”

MW is coming to Canada with the support of Seequent, the Bentley Subsurface Company. Lisa Wall, Chief People Officer at Seequent, has volunteered as a Mentor for the Calgary walk.

Lisa Wall says:“Seequent is committed to helping foster a future of strong female leaders. Mentor Walks creates an opportunity for aspiring females to connect with diverse local female leaders, who share their experiences and inspire confidence. We supported the successful launch of this accessible program in New Zealand and we are incredibly excited to partner with Mentor Walks again to bring this valuable offering to Canada.”
