Lyceum 2021, Together Towards Tomorrow: virtual events on September 22 (global) and September 23-30 (regional events) celebrate the geoscience community who brings data, disciplines and ideas together to build the best understanding through connection

Geoscience software company Seequent, a Bentley company, is set to bring together the top minds and ideas from across industries and around the world for its sixth annual Lyceum event for geo-professionals. Lyceum 2021, Together Towards Tomorrow will focus on how together we can understand the full geoscience picture as we head towards a more resilient, connected, and sustainable tomorrow.

Lyceum is a global virtual geo-technology conference to help geo-professionals, industry leaders, stakeholders, government, and management accelerate their understanding of the Earth. It starts with a global Lyceum on September 22, an aspirational thought-leadership event, followed by four more technical regional Lyceum events; Asia Pacific and North America each on September 23; Latin America on September 28; and Europe, Middle East, Africa, Russia on September 30.

Lyceum features over 70+ sessions with keynotes, industry panels, thought leader interviews, as well as solution zones and tips and tricks for users. In addition, Lyceum’s collaborative space allows attendees to share knowledge and fresh ideas.

Seequent Chief Executive Officer, Graham Grant says, “Lyceum is about people and connection and exploring crucial industry ideas and developments. Geoscience challenges will only increase in the future as populations grow, societies evolve, and the need for resilient infrastructure, clean water, and renewable energy continues to rise. Together, we can meet global issues head-on by challenging current thinking and looking at how technology can empower geo-professionals, decision-makers, and communities to make better decisions for people and the planet.”

Lyceum is fast becoming the go-to event for the geoscience community. It provides an opportunity to connect and advance thinking, share ideas and gain an exciting glimpse into the future, with quality speakers who reveal crucial new knowledge.

Lyceum 2021 will explore how together, the geoscience community is helping to solve some of the planet’s most significant challenges across the civil, mining, environmental, and energy sectors. Industry experts and featured keynotes will share insights into how geoscience innovation and understanding enables connection, resilience, and sustainability. In addition, attendees can engage in panel discussions and network with peers to discover how new capabilities can better solve complex geoscience challenges.

Lyceum 2021’s second keynote speaker, Professor Chris Jackson, is a renowned geologist, Earth scientist, volcanologist and Chair of Sustainable Geoscience at the University of Manchester. Jackson will offer his views on the significant role the geoscience community has in responding to some of the planet’s global challenges and the changing needs of society regarding sustainability.

Other global Lyceum 2021 feature sessions include panels featuring industry experts discussing topics such as The geoscience data revolution, Where the uncertain subsurface meets surface infrastructure and Solving the groundwater challenge. Industry expert sessions include Beyond infrastructure – Building resilient communities, RACE21 to digital transformation, and The future of mining: How cloud technology is enabling faster decisions through automation and collaboration. The global event will be closed by James Lawton, Seequent’s Chief Technology Officer.

The follow-on regional events are scheduled to suit each time zone across North America (NAM), Europe, Middle East, Africa, Russia (EMEA), Latin America (LAM) and Asia Pacific (APAC). Sessions have a technical focus and include; Understanding geotechnical risk: A structure for uncertainty; Net Zero by 2050: The role of geoscience and engineering in meeting decarbonisation goals; Recycling oil data to discover deep groundwater resources in water-scarce countries; Real world examples of how collaboration in a connected world is bringing data to decisions and, more.

Lyceum is Seequent’s thought leadership event, and its name is a nod to Aristotle’s Lyceum, where scholars met and debated. Lyceum began in 2016 as a small mining-focused event. Today, Lyceum extends across a wide range of geoscience disciplines and industries, attracting industry professionals, international and government organisations, thought leaders, businesses, partners, and academia. Lyceum 2020 attracted a virtual global audience of close to 5000.
