Foliation modelling within active mining environments as a tool for geotechnical rock mass management

Geotechnical stability analysis relies on understanding both the properties and orientation of both domain interfaces (e.g. fault zones, lithological contacts) and smaller scale fabrics (e.g. metamorphic fabrics, bedding, jointing). The ability to represent these small-scale fabrics has improved markedly, with tools to generate larger and more representative input datasets and to accurately model and represent them.

Presented as a case study, learn how these tools support a better understanding of the rock mass behaviour and more accurately define design domains. Models also become easily updateable and more reliable through a constant verification/prediction loop.
