A crustal investigation of the Gulf of Mexico using voxet-based gravity inversion to model radiogenic crust

Discover how Laura’s team developed a workflow for modeling crustal architecture that uses both seismic and gravity data for an integrated result.

Using VOXI essentials voxel-based inversion, they reduced both cycle time and the effects of interpreter bias. Comparing results in the Gulf of Mexico to regional GUMBO refraction line velocity models, they can now match total crustal thickness and upper-crustal thickness with higher accuracy than existing crustal models.
