OpenGround

Meet the successor to gINT

Switch now for more resilient, adaptable geotechnical data management.

If you’re using gINT, you already know how centralised data management helps geotechnical teams succeed.

True cloud connectivity can empower teams to collaborate with confidence, achieve new levels of precision, and access key data easily.

That’s why gINT users like you are making the switch to OpenGround: a secure, cloud-based geotechnical information management platform for collecting, reporting, managing, visualising, analysing and accessing data.

Why OpenGround?
OpenGround isn’t just an alternative way to work with subsurface data. OpenGround delivers new levels of security, resilience, and connectivity for a significantly more seamless experience than gINT.
A secure cloud platform
OpenGround uses current security best practices and a native cloud infrastructure for data resilience and protection.
Always-on disaster recovery
Safeguard your data with automated backups at ten-minute data recovery windows for high availability.
Accessible everywhere
Enable global sharing or control access to data based on specific roles and requirements.
Future-proofed technology
OpenGround is built on the latest Microsoft technologies and provides extensibility via comprehensive web API.

OpenGround helps tie everything together

How OpenGround helps meet client demands and win work

When Schnabel Engineering - a major geotechnical, dam, and tunnel engineering service provider - upgraded from gINT to OpenGround, they were excited to start simplifying, optimising, and digitalising its data management system.

"The feedback from stakeholders has been overwhelmingly positive. Clients and internal teams both appreciate the ability to review data in real time rather than waiting for daily summaries."

FAQ

gINT expiring support FAQ

Until the end of 2028, support will continue to be provided to existing users with an Active SELECT/E365/EPS or Virtuoso Subscription. The amount of support we can provide will be on a ‘Reasonable Endeavor’ basis due to legacy third-party dependencies, Windows Operating System/Microsoft Office compatibility, security, and the general age of gINT technology.

  • SELECT Support & Maintenance contracts and SELECT Pre-Paid Annual Subscriptions can be purchased for periods ending on or before that date.
  • gINT will continue to be available to E365/EPS customers until that date.
  • New Perpetual Licenses and Virtuoso annual subscriptions will be available for purchase until December 31, 2027.
  • If you still require gINT from 2029 onwards you can purchase Perpetual Licenses through to the end of 2027.
  • If you are on an E365/EPS contract, we can reinstate gINT Perpetual Licenses you surrendered before moving to E365 (without support and maintenance).
  • Perpetual licenses remain valid after 2029. However, in accordance with Bentley Systems’ standard policy for licenses without a support contract, access will be restricted to one user and one device.

OpenGround is currently deployed in the United States, Canada, Australia, The United Kingdom, and Mainland Europe Commercial Microsoft Azure regions. Default regional configuration packs are available.

Users outside these regions can use OpenGround if it meets localisation, performance, and data jurisdiction requirements. We intend to introduce additional regions annually according to market demand. Please let us know if you require OpenGround in other territories.

Many gINT users have already successfully migrated over to OpenGround. However, depending on your organisation’s level of customisation, automation, and use of advanced reporting capabilities within gINT, some of the functions you use in gINT might not yet be available for OpenGround. The OpenGround team is actively developing OpenGround to provide gINT equivalent workflows and report outputs going forward. We welcome your feedback to help improve the OpenGround user experience. If you would like to find out more about current and planned OpenGround capabilities, please contact your account manager.

OpenGround consists of two components:

  • The ‘Cloud Services’ component, which provides your organisation with OpenGround geotechnical data, Document storage, processing services, and API access (depending on your OpenGround tier).
  • ‘Application Bundles’ are collections of cloud-connected applications.

To find out more please visit the OpenGround webpage.

Contact your account manager for information on migration incentives, including trade-in discounts, and transitional gINT licenses.

OpenGround achieved the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP®) In Process status and is now listed on the FedRAMP Marketplace under Bentley for Government. (April 14, 2025).

OpenGround has been designed with security and scalability as foundational principles. It is deployed in Azure and supported by Bentley Managed Services (BMAP). OpenGround is configured to have reliable uptime, leveraging multiple data centres per region and providing data encryption at rest and in transit.

All data uploaded or entered within OpenGround is private. Data access is managed by the end-user through a comprehensive set of project-level and role-based access controls. Further details of the OpenGround security and compliance controls can be found on the Bentley Trust Portal.
