Workbench ERT & IP extension

The ERT & IP Extension is designed to process and invert ERT and induced polarization data. One of the unique features of the extension is the ability to invert the full decays of the IP signal, not just the integral IP. The extension implements extensive processing tools with pseudo sections that show ERT or IP data, electrode positions with elevation, and full decay IP signals. The extension is fully integrated with the GIS interface, and automatic filters help to improve the data quality and speed up the processing.

ERT and IP data can be modelled in 1D or 2D using smooth, sharp, or layered models. The IP full decay data is modelled with a Cole-Cole or Constant Phase Angle parametrization.

Workbench’s established functions aid in modelling and presenting data to customers. Users can easily integrate data with boreholes, create reports, and more.

Import

ERT/IP data can be imported with well-known data formats with support for external topography grids or GPS-measured topography and electrode positions. Profile direction can be flipped, and data information is listed during import to make the process easier.

Processing

The extension’s processing tool is integrated with the GIS interface. The processing window shows the data points at each focus depth along with the pseudo section, electrode positions, and ERT/IP decay curves. Users have the flexibility to disable electrodes and the corresponding data points, single data points, IP decay curves, and vertical soundings.

Inversion

ERT/IP data inversion is performed with the AarhusInv inversion code, handling full waveform IP data with Cole-Cole or constant phase parametrization. The extension supports 1D or 2D modelling with few-layered, many-layered, and sharp models. Starting values for resistivity, thickness, constraints, chargeability, tau, and C can be individually changed for each layer, or optimal values can be chosen automatically. The inversion is optimised for multi-CPU cores, ensuring high parallel efficiency.
