How do you harness complex data for decision clarity?

That’s what we wanted to explore at this year’s Seequent Lyceum 2018 events. After hosting successful events in 2016 and 2017, we decided to raise the stakes this year. In addition to an evening presentation, networking and feedback event, we hosted a full-day user conference of presentations from a range of industry speakers and modelling specialists. Lyceum 2018 was held in Vancouver, Perth and Santiago.

The idea behind Lyceum goes back to Aristotle, who gathered thinkers and leaders of the day to a place called Lyceum, where they discussed, debated, reasoned and learned from each other. 2,500 years later we replicated this idea to get close to our customers, learn from them, understand their challenges, and have conversations about solutions.

This year’s theme was data complexity to decision clarity, which was reflected in the presentations given by guests and Seequent staff. For example:

  • The Use of View as an Every Day Solution with Amy Gerber, Product Manager – View, Seequent
  • 3D Geochemistry of the Brucejack High-Grade Gold & Silver Deposit with Dr. Pim van Geffen, Principal Geochemist of Vancouver Geochemistry
  • Mining to Save the Planet: Clean Energy and the Mineral Resource Challenge with Shaun Barker, Associate Professor in Earth Sciences, University of Tasmania (video coming soon)

(You can view the presentations here. We’ll be uploading more throughout the coming months!)

Of course, our CEO Shaun Maloney also took to the stage to share Seequent’s vision for the future – and exciting news of the Geosoft acquisition. At Perth Lyceum, we announced a partnership with IMDEX to deliver an innovative real-time 3D visualisation solution for mining and exploration drilling projects.

We also premiered a case study we created with First Majestic Silver Corp., who use Seequent products Leapfrog Geo, Leapfrog EDGE and Central.

Feedback Zones

At the evening networking event, guests were invited into Feedback Zones. We had zones dedicated to our Leapfrog Geo, Leapfrog Edge and Central products. Small groups saw new product features, learned how to optimise for better performance and were able to provide feedback on our products, which helps drive how we develop our solutions.
