CHRISTCHURCH, 17 September 2015 – ARANZ Geo Limited has won the Champion Global Operator category (medium to large enterprise) at the 2015 Champion Canterbury Business Awards.

Shaun Maloney, CEO of ARANZ Geo said, “This award is a great way to celebrate a significant year for the company and the efforts of our truly world-class team around the globe.”

ARANZ Geo is a world leader in the interpretation and visualisation of geological data for the mining, environmental, renewable energy and other geologically dependent industries.  ARANZ Geo solutions harness information to extract value, bring meaning and reduce risk.

Maloney says, “We turn complex data into geological understanding, to provide timely insight and give decision makers confidence.”

The company’s global footprint includes a Christchurch-based HQ and R&D centre and offices in Asia/Pacific, Africa, South America, North America and Europe.

“We’ve rapidly expanding our global reach”, adds Maloney. “We’re building new markets including Russia, Brasil, Turkey and Mexico and planning to opening up more new markets soon.  Over the past year we also bought back our distributor network in Chile, Peru, Denmark, and Canada, and we’re seeing growth there too.”

ARANZ Geo has built a global reputation in the mining industry in particular as the developers of Leapfrog 3D geological modelling solutions (www.leapfrog3d.com) for the mining, exploration, groundwater contamination, and geothermal energy industries.  Leapfrog sets the standard in geological modelling and is relied on by all the top mining and exploration firms to enable better decision making.  The newly released beta version Leapfrog AR tool enables augmented reality.  Subsidiary company QG serves the mining consultancy market.

“Over the past few years our growth has been in large part to increasing demand for our Leapfrog software”, says Maloney.  “As we’ve expanded our global footprint to meet this demand, we’ve continued to develop Leapfrog as well as a range of new products set for launch.  In this way we can leverage our reputation for delivering outstanding products our clients can trust, to really scale.”

Over 1,300 Canterbury business professionals attended the annual awards gala dinner on 16 September at Horncastle Arena. Other finalists for the award included Jade Software Corporation and Christchurch Engine Centre.

“The innovation Canterbury is renowned for really shines through in our winners. Whether it’s developing world beating products, adapting business models for our ever changing operating environment or creating and implementing innovative marketing strategies, the Awards has been a showcase for business innovation in all its forms,” said Leeann Watson, Director of Champion Canterbury Limited and the General Manager of the Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce.
